About Outdoorsica
We’d rather be outdoors doing something fun in natural surroundings, and so would you. But for all those times:
-
when you want a fix of nature or adventure but just can’t get away to your happy place…
-
when you want to share what you did outdoors on your last trip …
-
when you want to get info and expertise to help with your next adventure…
…there’s Outdoorsica.
As free and fresh as mountain air, Outdoorsica is a tool built to help you enjoy and share your passion for outdoor activities and adventures. And by that we mean anything that takes you outside, whether it’s swimming in a lake, bird-watching and a walk in the woods, or BASE jumping, surfing and white-water kayaking.
For You
Outdoorsica is built around the following main tools:
Guidebook
A knowledge base, like an Encyclopedia Outdoorsica, that’s powered by people who are passionate about the outdoors, just like you. Get info — or add an entry — on things like:
-
how to repair the punctured tire on your mountain bike
-
snow conditions at your favorite ski hill
- the history, culture and character of a Mexican surf town you’re visiting next month
-
detailed trail maps of a hiking route, complete with GPS coordinates
-
the best white-water rivers in the Ottawa Valley
-
beautiful photos from a mountaintop you dream of reaching
-
reviews and comments on an adventure supplier in Nepal
-
tips on photographing a sunset
- local weather reports in Patagonia
All of the contributions in the Guidebook come from people who have done it, and who share your passion.
Outdoor Blogs
Tell a story about your latest outings. Share photos with your friends. Keep people posted on your trek around the world. This is like other blogs you might find online, but for people who know that Punta Perfecta is much more beautiful than Paris Hilton.
Profiles and Friends
You don’t need more online friends to send you dirty jokes. But the Outdoorsica Friends function is a way to connect with climbing buddies, paddling partners, or even a lift to the ski hill. Or to find people who have done what you want to do, and tap into them for more of the information you need. Click on the author links for any Guidebook entry or Outdoor Blog, and you have the option to get in touch with that person by sending a message or becoming a friend.
Q & A — coming soon!
Just can’t find the GPS coordinates for the trailhead? Looking for a partner for your hike through Death Valley? Trying to tell the difference between a yellow-bellied sapsucker and a pileated woodpecker? Throw the question out to the Outdoorsica community and tap into the experience of outdoor people around the world.
Growing Fast
New features are coming to Outdoorsica soon. Sign up for our development newsletter and we’ll keep you posted on the best source for outdoor activity and adventure info.
Share Some
The power of Outdoorsica is in the outdoor experiences of its members. So tell Outdoorsica what you know. Post a new chapter in the Guidebook about your lifelong hobby, your local recreation area, your favorite brand of lifejacket. It’s like karma – you get what you give – except you don’t have to die before you reap your reward.
