More Father's Day gift ideas
Looking for ideas for dad's day? Here's my second batch of top picks. See my others here
For something on his feet, an excellent light hiker that feels burly enough for light overnights and scrambles and is super comfortable is La Sportiva's FC 2.0. The FC stands for Flex Control, two softer pivot points in the sole of the shoe that helps the foot to flex more naturally. Put them on and the shoe feels like a much bigger boot, but start walking and there's a really smooth roll through the gate. On the way down hills specially designed tractin helps with braking. And at $140 for a waterproof, Gore-tex lined boot it's a pretty good deal. For a trail runner check out Scarpa's new trail running line including the Raptor, which we've been running in lately. It's a nice smooth trail shoe with descent breathability.
And if you're completely stumped you can always fall back on the stand by and buy him underwear. But not just any underwear – bring out his inner beast with Icebreaker's Beast collection. Made from New Zealand merino wool it's comfortable to wear – I swear there's no itch – wicks moisture and stays warm when wet.
Something on this list should suit every dad, but if not, shoot me a comment describing your dad and I'll come up with some more. Good luck and happy Father's Day.
