Genius: Fixing a flat tire without a spare or patch

Despite my affinity for gear sometimes I hit the trails on my mountain bike without a spare or patch kit. Inevitably it's when I'm pressed for time and rushed out of the house hoping to sneak in a quick ride before something important happens or it gets dark. I always realize I'm missing a flat tire fix as I'm leaving the car and stress about what I'll do if I get a patch for the rest of the ride. These are never my best rides.

But after reading this blog from Norco Bikes I'll ride a little easier (scroll down to February 4). I never would have thought about tying a knot in a tube. Genius.
