My outdoors adventures
Kayaking in Collins Creek, Kingston, Ont
Finally my back feels good enough to take on some of my favorite outdoors past-times. Todays adventure was kayaking. I wanted to paddle to a few Geocaches on some islands of the shore of Amherstview, Ont. but the wind was to strong. There were white caps on the waves and I was not interested in ditching into that very cold Lake Ontario. Upon giving that up I went to Collins Bay Marina which was not much better but passed some time. I suddenly saw the mouth of Collins Creek in the near distance, but knew better than to paddle there. So I drove to 2 different locations where you can enter the creek. I chose an entry point on Woodbine Rd as it had the easiest entry. Paddling with the current is very cool and comming back against the currant is OK minus the rapids just north if Taylor Kidd Blvd. That would certainly need a portage or two. However I was happy to get out and maybe someday I'll be able to go get those caches on the islands that I wanted. I was also happy to have the exercise after this winter and the back injury. Let the good time keep comming.
