Sharing Our Outdoor Pursuits
As young seniors anticipating more free time, which we project for 2009, we're excited about being more active outdoors in places around the world. We are posting some of our activities here and look forward to hearing more from other seniors who are doing interesting things.
Turks and Caicos

With a February 2008 week to spend walking the Grace Bay beaches, sightseeing and snorkeling on Providentiales (Provo) in the Turks and Caicos ahead of us, four of us began to unwind from our busy Toronto lives. One of our first purchases was this Avis rental of an island Charade. Tiny and slow it was perfect for us to tour the island, get provisions at the local grocery store, find different dinner spots each evening and suss out the local snorkeling sights. It was also great for slowing us down and moving us onto Island time. Left hand side driving was a challenge to overcome so we always had a driver and driver assistant to make "recommendations". Luckily the traffic was light in most places except in the roundabouts where our driver had to be the most attentive! Our little Charade ensured that we didn't try to go too fast. The little car was $300 for the week. Perfect. Gas is expensive in the Turks - everything is imported - but we ended up spending only $13.00 on the fill-up after a week of touring.
