From the good people at the Minden Whitewater Preserve:
Hello Everyone!
The new Minden Whitewater Preserve Committee invites and encourages all users of the river and Preserve to come out and help clean up the facilities for the start of the 2009 season. Mark your calendars for May 9 and 10 for 10 am. This date coincides with the Real Paddling Film Festival to be held at the Rail's End in Haliburton on Friday the 8th and Saturday the 9th at 7 pm. Why not make a full weekend of it?
WO will be hosting a BBQ lunch to honor Gary & Cammy George for all their years of volunteer work at the Preserve. This will be held on Saturday afternoon and is free to anyone who shows up to lend a helping hand.
The Preserve is more than just about paddling and using the river. It's also a place for Whitewater Ontario members and non WO members to camp, hike, fish, gather around the fire pit, share stories with friends, and be part of a great thing. The Preserve is the best kept secret in Ontario and we want it to be the jewel of Haliburton. It's been a long and dirty winter so come on out to the campground area and lend a hand for a day or even a few hours. "Many hands make light work". You are welcome to bring family members and friends too. Don't forget rakes and your work gloves. And yes, by all means bring your paddling gear!!
