Paddler's Guide to Happy Camping

This is Kevin Callan's blog about his trips, his (mis-)adventures, and his favourite gear.

Island Lake - Magnetawan River - Final Chapter

Here's the last video of the series on my canoe trip north of the Magnetawan River. Even though my partner (Mike) and I didin't complete the full route we planned, it was still an awesome trip.

Enjoy the video. And if you're interested, a group is being formed to do some maintenance next season in this area.

Inspiring video, that last campsite, where you had the pizza (unless I'm mistaken it's the small island in the south portion of the lake, close to Farm Creek and the Wolf Lake portage, I hope you made use of the fire wood we left you!), my buddy Steve and I spent an awesome afternoon there this summer after filling our bellies with bass (and Bush Mills and Jagermeister!), there is a shoal NW of the island...I must have sat on it for a good hour just soaking it all up, can't wait to get back!

P.S. there is a cool "twin" birch tree on the island that a beaver has started on...it looks like an Ent showing off a new pair of shoes.

It was the island site where the trail to tower hill was and I think I remember a birch tree.
