The essence of Spring!

When the sun shines, you can't help but want to get outside. Soak up some of that vitamin D. Breath some of that fresh air.
The trouble is that Edmonton decides to go through a spring cold snap (-1°C according to Environment Canada, so what can one do for their lunch time foray?
- Stay inside, breathing recycled air, sitting at a darkened dinning table. Boo.
- Go outside regardless, and sit in the sun. Yes!
With toque on head, gloves on hands, thin fleecy top on my back and the current issue of Explore under my arm, out I head. Out into the garden I'm lucky to enjoy at my place of work. With the scurrying squirrels, the chirping chickadees and a bird I don't recognise, I resolutely stick it out on the plastic webbed deck chair.
The sun blares down. I take deep, calming, breaths. And I break from the day's duties.
It may not have been an epic hike. Nor a hell-raising climb. But it was one of the nicest lunch breaks I've had all week.
